Find A Doctor Canada

About Find A Doctor Canada

Rooted in social services. Bringing together healthcare, public health and community experience.

Finding care should not mean navigating everything alone.

Find A Doctor Canada is an independent information and navigation resource created to help people understand their primary-care options and take practical steps toward finding care.

Founded by Roshana L., whose background is in social services, FADC is supported by a small team with experience across nursing, virtual healthcare support, public health, research, education and community outreach.

We bring these different perspectives together around one purpose: making the search for care more understandable, more manageable and less isolating.

Why We Started

“I do not have time to find a doctor when life is already asking so much of me.”

That thought sits at the heart of Find A Doctor Canada.

People may already be working full-time, raising children, caring for relatives, managing illness, adjusting to life in a new country or simply trying to keep up with everyday responsibilities. Then finding healthcare can become another job of its own: searching unfamiliar websites, calling clinics, joining waitlists, comparing information and trying to understand what to do when the answer is no.

Find A Doctor Canada was created after seeing how much of that work was being placed on individuals and families.

A list of clinic names or phone numbers can be useful, but it does not always answer the questions people actually have:

  • Where should I start?
  • Is this clinic really accepting patients?
  • Is there another option if it is not?
  • Is there a provincial program I should register with?
  • What should I ask when I call?
  • What can I do while I wait?

Our goal is to help bridge the gap between finding information and knowing what to do with it.

The social-service foundation behind FADC shapes how we approach that work. We recognize that not everyone has the same amount of time, confidence, digital access, language ability or familiarity with the healthcare system. The right next step for one person may not be the right next step for another.

We try to make those pathways clearer.

Meet the People Behind Find A Doctor Canada

Different backgrounds. One shared purpose.

Find A Doctor Canada is a small, founder-led team.

Our backgrounds are different, but they complement one another: social services helps us understand the circumstances surrounding a person’s search; healthcare experience helps us communicate clearly about patient-facing processes; public health and research help us examine information carefully; and outreach helps us stay connected to the communities and organizations supporting people every day.

Roshana L.

Founder | Social Services & Resource Navigation

Roshana founded Find A Doctor Canada with the belief that finding care should not depend on having unlimited time, confidence or knowledge of the healthcare system.

With a background in social services, she brings an understanding that information alone is not always enough.

Someone may have a list of clinics and still need help figuring out where to begin, which options apply to them, what questions to ask or what to do when nothing appears available.

That perspective shapes the development of FADC.

The focus is not simply on collecting information. It is on making that information easier to understand and more practical to use.

Roshana’s work centres on building resources that recognize the real circumstances surrounding people’s searches, including work, caregiving, language barriers, financial pressures, limited time and the difficulty of navigating unfamiliar systems.

Her focus is on turning scattered information into clearer next steps while keeping dignity, accessibility and practicality at the centre of the experience.

Nina

Healthcare Navigation Support & Community Education

Nina brings a background in nursing, virtual healthcare support and education.

Her previous experience as a Virtual Medical Assistant in a pediatric neurology clinic included coordinating telehealth consultations, supporting patient-record administration and communicating with parents and families.

That kind of work requires more than managing information. It requires patience, clarity and the ability to communicate with people who may already feel uncertain, overwhelmed or concerned.

Nina also has experience as an online English-language teacher, which adds another valuable strength: explaining unfamiliar information clearly, adapting communication to different levels of understanding and helping people feel comfortable asking questions.

At Find A Doctor Canada, Nina supports community education, presentations, outreach and practical navigation assistance.

She helps people understand how to use FADC resources, how to approach different healthcare pathways and how to prepare for the next conversation with a clinic or service.

Nina’s focus is on making information easier to understand and act on without making people feel rushed, intimidated or overwhelmed.

Hana

Research, Community Outreach & Partnerships

Hana brings a multidisciplinary background spanning marketing, public health, health research ethics, data analytics and customer-facing support.

Her academic background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, postgraduate study in Public Health with a focus on Health Research Ethics, and Data Analytics training.

She also has customer-service experience in both private healthcare settings and the airline industry, giving her experience working directly with people, handling questions, following up and communicating across different service environments.

At Find A Doctor Canada, Hana supports community and clinic outreach, research, follow-up and relationship-building with organizations.

She also contributes a public-health and research perspective to the work behind FADC: considering not only what information is available, but whether it is understandable, current, relevant and useful to the people who need it.

Her marketing background adds another layer by helping FADC think about how information reaches people and how community organizations can help extend that reach.

Hana’s focus is on strengthening the research, relationships and communication that connect Find A Doctor Canada with communities.

What Brings Us Together

Our backgrounds may be different, but the work comes back to the same question:

How can we make the search for care easier to understand and easier to act on?

Social services helps us consider the person behind the search.

Nursing and healthcare-support experience inform how we communicate about patient-facing processes.

Public health and research encourage us to look carefully at the quality, clarity and accessibility of information.

Community outreach helps us connect with the organizations already supporting families, newcomers, seniors, caregivers and others who may be struggling to navigate care.

Together, these perspectives help shape a resource that is intended to be practical rather than overwhelming.

How We Help

Find A Doctor Canada brings together clinic information, province-specific guidance, practical tools, alerts, educational resources and navigation support in one place.

Our aim is to help people:

  • understand their primary-care options
  • search for clinics and services in their area
  • make sense of accepting, waitlist and availability information
  • discover provincial or local pathways they may not know about
  • prepare useful questions before contacting a clinic
  • understand what alternatives may exist when no immediate opening is available
  • stay informed when local options change

We also create resources for the people who are often helping someone else search for care, including family members, caregivers, library staff, settlement workers and community organizations.

Technology With a Human Purpose

Technology helps us organize information, monitor changes and make resources easier to access.

But technology is only part of the work.

A search result cannot always understand why someone is struggling to navigate the system. A directory cannot replace careful explanation. An automated tool cannot determine every circumstance affecting a person’s options.

That is why we aim to combine technology with practical, human-centred navigation.

The goal is not simply to show more information.

The goal is to help people understand what they can reasonably do next.

Clear About Our Role

Find A Doctor Canada is an independent information and navigation resource.

We are not a medical clinic and we do not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.

Our team’s professional and educational backgrounds inform the way we research, communicate and support navigation, but Find A Doctor Canada does not provide regulated clinical services.

Clinic availability can change quickly, and a listing does not guarantee acceptance, registration or an appointment.

People should always confirm current requirements directly with the clinic, healthcare organization or relevant provincial service.

Paid navigation support, where offered, does not purchase access to a healthcare provider, guarantee placement or provide priority on a waiting list.

We cannot promise that an opening will be available. We can help make the information, options and next steps easier to understand.

Find A Doctor Canada is independently operated and is not affiliated with the Government of Canada or any provincial or territorial government.
